Using the Piano Express App

The Piano Express app is a tool designed to assist piano students with their practice by providing digital songbooks, worksheets, and interactive play/practice modes.

Users can navigate between skill levels, view tutorial videos, track their progress with scores, and use practice tools like tempo adjustments and hand isolation to master songs.

The system encourages consistent, accurate practice through performance milestones, including stars, diamonds, and crowns.

  1. Dashboard Overview

    • The Dropdown Menu - Selecting the appropriate skill level.

    • Student Initials Button - Sign out and access online classes here.

    • Songs vs Worksheets - Toggle between songs and digital worksheets.

  2. Progress Tracking & Milestones

    • Performance rewards:

      • Stars: Achieved by getting a 95-100% score.

      • Diamonds: Achieved by getting another 95-100% score on subsequent attempts.

      • Crown: Achieved by completing five 95-100% performances.

      • Flames: Earned on flashcards.

    • At Home: Record scores & rewards in the physical book and advance progress flags to prepare for future lessons.

  3. Practice Features

    • Play Mode: Can only earn scores in this mode.

    • Practice Mode: Allows for slowing down the tempo and isolating specific measures or hands to troubleshoot difficult sections.

    • Advanced Isolation: Using (piano) keyboard shortcuts to practice hands-separate (Left or Right hand only) to improve mastery of complex pieces.
